Jack got invited to the coolest birthday party: a day with the Del Mar lifeguards. All the little 6ish year old guests got to go out into the ocean on the Zodiac with the real lifeguards! Awesome!!

Poor Clara... a fever and what turns out to be hand, foot and mouth disease, yuck! The little thing is still such a joy (as long as she has that cool damp washcloth on her head)! Against all odds!

Mommy braved it: the nearby beach with three children. It was awesome (until the end when everyone pitched a fit because they didn't want to leave. but i digress)!! The baby enjoys the beach from the shade of the umbrella Taking a rest... interestingly she declined a towel....? Stonefaced. Castle building!

Clara *loves* her brother, Jack. She particularly loves when his hair is all crazy when he wakes up or after a shower. Here she was fresh off a rolling-on-her-mat session and he came over to cuddle while he watched his bedtime show. Love these two!!

My sister Lindsay is known to my kids as Auntie Muffin. We had a great visit with "Muffin" this week as we celebrated 7/4, hung out at the house and pool, walked the botanical gardens and checked out the seals. Thank you for coming, guys! Fun! A day and evening spent at La Costa Resort, and playing at their many pools. In the morning there was a reptile show! Awesome!!
