What Were We Thinking (You Ask...)?

Image
-We're thinking that since we are already in/around baby mode and haven't slept through the night in 6 years... -We're thinking that since we've become extremely skilled parents & can hold both kids while balancing breakfast in one hand and filling up a sippy in the other hand -Lots more hugs and kisses -We think it would be a grand adventure to be outnumbered--kids to parents -More and more love in our home -We're thinking that the moments of chaos like an entire box of Cheerios poured onto the floor are outweighed by tender parenting moments  (notice I did not say outnumbered...) -Since I'd forgotten all about morning sickness and wanted a 24/7 reminder -We miss that new baby smell, tiny baby toes & sweet baby moments - That there's a little one up there all ready to come down to us - We feel so so so grateful to be able to have children (borrowed and gently altered from Lizzy Kartchner) Burnett Kid #3 is on the way, due early March!

Jack lost his first tooth (and as you can see, the second one can't be far behind--it's hangin' on by a string!)!!

First Day of Preschool!!

Image
Tessie started at her brother's old preschool on Monday! Thanks to GiGi and Bevo for the fabulous new threads to start it off right. (Mrs. Maryam the director said that Tess was so reserved that she could barely get her to talk throughout the day.... we don't know that side of our girl!!)

Snores and Smores Campout

Image
Once a year the local park/playground has a campout, complete with theme, activities for the kids, dinner, smores and breakfast in the morning. This year's theme was The Wizard of Oz, and it was so fun! The kids did the jumpy, crafts, facepainting, wing-eating contest, and outdoor movie. Hopefully we'll get to try it again next year too! :) Tentville Crafting their badges of courage Jack takes on the pound(!) of wings And proclaims himself winner! TaTa, Training Wheels!!!

Image
Jack has been practicing balance lately, and more recently asking to having his training wheels taken off his bike. He saw the little brother in his "Dino Dan" show do it... so he was convinced he was ready. As these photos show... he was right! He is so proud of himself--and we couldn't be more proud of him!! Getting started... with a little lean to the right Balance Hard for Daddy to let go.... Going...... GONE! Now he's working Daddy out.... We just try to keep up!!

Sound Byte from the OR Vacation

"Tess, I'm gonna read your mind. But first, I have to get this sand off me...." ~Jack Burnett, age 5

Oregon with the Burnetts....

Image
I guess we like to double up on vacations.... After four WHOLE days at home, we jetted off to the coast of Oregon for some rest and relaxation with the Burnett fam. Jack and Tess love to hang out with their cousins Chase and Leslie. We all enjoyed beach time, mini-golf, hiking the dune, clamming and more. Leslie and Tess compare sizes and smocks at the Portland Childrens Museum Climbing wall.... just right for the boys The vet section at the Childrens Museum was a hit for sure Chillin' with a kids' flick On top of the dune Jack is pumped that he turned Tess into a mermaid Tess shows off her chocolate, pre-s'more Mini golf in matching sweatsuits. Classy! Digging for clams (*now* I understand the pants called "clam diggers") Daddy chases Tess with a stinky clam Jack might like Mommy's new hobby, too.... All aboard at Garibaldi station!! And amidst everything... Jack built a 1200-piece Lego space shuttle!! Tessie tiptoes in the sand
